Prudential in Myanmar

Prudential's history in Myanmar dates back to 1923 when it first established its operations in the country. In 1935, it moved its head office into 104 Strand Road, a prominent colonial heritage buildings in Rangoon. In 1964, the government required that all private insurers close their operations and only the state-owned Myanma Insurance remained. In 2013, when the government re-opened the market, Prudential re-entered Myanmar with a representative office licence, the first European life insurer to do so.
